Over the Moon or Under the Weather ?
May 26th, Yoga Dublin Ranelagh, 2-4, €25. For all bookings contact www.yogadublin.com

Curse or cure ? Like it or not, an average woman will spend 3,500 days of her life with a period. So, if we can’t change our biology, can we change our understanding of our biology and develop skills to help us when the going gets tough ?

Modern science shows that hormonal fluctuations color our emotions, our thoughts, our reasoning and our experience of the world. This workshop offers a practice for looking after ourselves, learning to intuit what is happening in our bodies, why it is happening, and what to do about it.

This teaching is suitable for women who have no problems but simply want to empower and educate themselves, as well as women with heavy periods, irregular periods, PMS, PCOS, DUB, or women needing to jump start a cycle or get a period back on track.

Learn how to create physical and emotional health and healing with the ancient embodied wisdom of yoga.

The Runners Guide to Yoga
June 9th, Yoga Dublin Ranelagh, 2-4, €25. For all bookings contact www.yogadublin.com

During the course of an average mile run, your foot will strike the ground 1,000 times. The force of impact on each foot is about three or four times your weight. It’s not surprising then to hear runners complain of bad backs and knees, tight hamstrings and sore feet. The pain most runners feel is not from running in and of itself but from imbalances that running causes or exacerbates. A typical runner experiences too much pounding, tightening, shortening of muscles and not enough restorative, elongating and loosening work.
Running and yoga make a perfect marriage of strength and flexibility. Yoga’s internal focus centres your attention on your own body’s movements. Consistent asana conditioning engages, strengthens and balances your muscles so they act as shock absorbers as well as movers. Conscious breathing and pranayama exercises relax the entire body and ensure maximum oxygen intake. Bear in mind that one of the main differences between an average and an extraordinary athlete may be sheer VO2 Max – or aerobic capacity.
This workshop is suitable for all athletes from amateur to professional who want to improve performance and endurance. By learning to bring your body into balance with yoga, you can run long and hard for years to come.

Workshop — Sat July 21st
DANCE OF THE DIAPHRAGMS

A diaphragm can be defined as a transition point in our body, a place where energy and movement can be encouraged or restricted or re-directed. We look at the pelvic floor, the thoracic diaphragm and the soft palate and three diaphragms of the torso that support and organize the movement of fluids, energy and force through our torso. In this workshop we will explore movement at each of these diaphragms, and how they dance together to create both ease and support for practicing asana.

Workshop — Sun July 22nd
CORE CONNECTIONS

Our organs are about vitality and aliveness, nourishment and comfort, growth and survival. They help us process, integrate and release our inner and outer experiences. When we embody our organs we find volume, fluid movement, and new ways to find ease in asana. We will explore our organs and how their movement informs the movement of our whole body in gravity and in space. The workshop will include movement, lecture and discussion. No previous experience is necessary.

Clinics — Saturday July 21st and Sunday 22nd

Don't miss this rare opportunity to watch a master teacher at work. Amy will solicit queries from the group at the beginning of each session and then demonstrate how she would respond to those issues in a class. One of Amy’s many skills is breaking down complex anatomical issues into simple, embodied solutions. Don't miss this!
